I'm familiar with the copyright office. I have that website and I've copyrighted many works. But it doesn't answer my question.

Unfortunately you have met with what is referred to as an Internet Troll in the user 'jori2'. He is not actually interested in answering your questions. Just list that one under useless crude.
Using the Internet for free legal advise is questionable at best. And no matter what the case, once a file is uploaded somewhere, there is little chance of stopping its repeated duplication. A copyright means little to many listeners who seem to believe music just appears for them by magic. Your problem is faced by many and none have received a good answer that I am aware of.
Just watch out for the bad actors.

Thank you for this. I'm aware of the leeching that goes on, which is why I upload in a low-res monoaural version, but this has prompted me to budget for actual copyright registration. I wish it was simpler, but at least I will have protection. Thanks again.
